Sustainability
Innolumis was founded in 2008 from a sustainable idea: developing, producing and selling better and more efficient street lighting with a high degree of energy savings. This was the original goal and 10 years later this is still our starting point.
The energy costs of an average municipality can be attributed to around 40 to 60% for lighting the street lighting, with an average of over 4,000 burnin hours per year.
It is precisely for this reason that the replacement of conventional street lighting with LED lighting makes an important contribution to achieving the energy objectives that each municipality must meet in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
LED lighting from Innolumis provides energy savings that can vary from 30 to 80%. In addition, substantial savings can be realized on the maintenance of the acreage because LED lighting lasts much longer than conventional lighting and because, for example, no lamp replacement is needed. The average lifespan of Innolumis LED lighting can be up to 100,000 hours which is equal to 20/25 years.
Circularity
In 2050, Europe needs to have a completely circular economy. This ambitious objective is necessary because raw materials run out and the global waste problem is also tackled. In 2050 no more wast is allowed to be produced. Everything needs to be reused in the chain.
A circular economy also means that products or components must be fully reused at the end of their lifespan.
Innolumis has now started a circular project with other producers of luminaries and together with municipalities and provinces, the MKI (Environmental Cost Indicator) of the produced luminaires is examined and how this factor can be reduced by looking smart at the production methods. In the end, this should result in a lower footprint and ultimately with a factor of 0.
The process is supervised by various consultancy firms specialized in this matter and is also supported by OVLNL.

New developments from Innolumis will in the future be developed and produced according to the above mentioned method.
Social return
Since 2016, every street lighting fixture of Innolumis is assembled in the Netherlands.
In itself not so special, however this happens in two social working places. In both companies, around 30 people with a disability are working every day with passion on the assembly of every Innolumis fixture.
All the Nicole luminaires are being assembled at Metafors in Amersfoort. Metafors is part of the Amfors group and is the metal processing part of the Amfors Group.
In the city of Groningen, in the northern part of the Netherlands, the Ariane conical luminaires and the Victoria luminaires are assembled at the social working company Iederz.
In this way Innolumis gives meaning to social entrepreneurship in the fullest sense of the word.
